My name is Mac Riga; I’m a mostly self-taught game developer who’s interested in the power of Gaming as a medium, and the effects Games and Games-spaces have on the people who play and inhabit them.
What am I interested in?
My current interests are in the ways Gaming subcultures serve as incubation grounds for Right Wing ideologies. I want to make games to combat that phenomenon without sacrificing fun; I don’t think one needs to choose between making an “important” game and making a “good” game, and I want to figure out exactly how to achieve that end.
What are my strengths?
Above all else, my greatest strength in my work style is dedication. I am Disciplined and an Achiever who works best when I have the room to Arrange plans of action and stick to them. I appreciate room to Ideate and flex my creative side, and this is all the better when it sets up a strong system of attack that I can enter a flow state in. My top five Gallup Strengthsfinder strengths are, Discipline, Achiever, Arranger, Analytical and Ideation.
I have always found these strengths to resonate with projects in my personal, academic, and professional life. Whether its coding an interactive birthday card for my partner, poring over colleagues’ calendars to schedule meetings, or burning the midnight oil to work on a major assignment, I have always found my best workflow to be a period of creative planning, followed by forming a solid outline, and finished with tireless work to see my plans realized.
